Guatemala je druhá největší země ve střední Americe. Z východu je omývaná vodami Atlantiku a ze západu Pacifikem. Žijí zde Mayové - jedna z nejstarších indiánských kultur na světě, tvoří téměř polovinu populace země a mluví více jak 20 jazyky, dále míšenci a zbytky černých Garifunů. Ti všichni vytvořili pestrý kulturní kotel, ve kterém se mayské tradice sloučili s katolickou vírou a jejími svatými.
Guatemala is the second largest country in Central America. It is washed by the waters of the Atlantic from the east and by the Pacific from the west . The Maya live here - one of the oldest cultures in the world and they speak more than 20 languages, half-breeds and remnants of Garifuna. They all created a colorful cultural cauldron in which Mayan traditions merged with the Catholic faith and its saints.
